It takes years of patience, perseverance, hardwork, intelligence, smartness, passion, and a host of such qualities to hone your skills with dedication and commitment to reach excellence. It was a pleasant surprise to be voicing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. There were more surprises:) The original pilot had her speaking perfect, proper Tamil. I was literally dumbfounded. Mind you, for most of us, who speak regular everyday Tamil, even simple sentences in chaste Tamil, can be challenging. And while recording such lines, for the diction, expression, delivery, everything to be spot on, it takes time. And here, Aishwarya Rai was rocking it! Next surprise. There was barely any one helping her with the lines during the take. Means, no one prompting. She had it all in her head. She had taken a whole lot of time, and like a good student, done her homework, properly. “Dubbing la paathukalam” is a common line during shoot in many, many places to just mouth your lines knowing well that some one else is doing your lines, so why bother. Not her, and definitely, not here. It is artists like her, who show the way, that no matter how high you reach, you don’t take anything for granted. And that every single detail matters. It has been absolutely wonderful to try and match her poise, tone and expression. It didn’t come easily but I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Caption : What do I say about this? Going to crescent avenue and entering the studio of Madras Talkies is like going home. Warm, friendly faces and fun chats catching up with technicians and staff at the office. Except you don’t know what challenges are waiting for you when you enter the dub suite. But every time I leave this studio, overwhelmed and with a sense of fulfillment. Being part of films like Kannathil Muthamittaal, Guru, Cheliya ( Telugu version of Kaatru Veliyidai ), Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (tamil and telugu) and now, PS-1, has enriched me in more ways than I can think of. Caption : I can never be completely satisfied with my work. No matter what anyone says, I tend to keep digging for what could have been done better. But it isn’t always like that. There are times I’m happy with myself. Like last weekend😊 My “Voice artiste training workshop” happened over Saturday and Sunday. Happy to say that I have been able to communicate all that I had meticulously planned to convey, to the best of my capabilities, to this serious and extremely enthusiastic group of aspirants who dedicatedly sat through the long hours, surprised me with samples of their work and had very specific questions during our interactions. Caption : After Maya and Game Over, Connect is my third film with filmmaker, @ashwin.saravanan . Working with him is very unique because we try all we can to make the sounding of lines, effects and emotions as close to sync sound as possible. I must add, that this effort, towards getting the sounding right, is something that’s enriching and rewarding, in itself. Recording my voice for the undisputed lady superstar isn’t getting easy with every film, contrary to what most people might think. This film was quite challenging, because she had performed in some deeply emotional scenes, which were nearly impossible to dub. Caption : Exercising makes me feel good from within and I make sure I find time for it one way or the other. There have been several long periods of time, sometimes stretching into months, where I’ve been unable to make time for fitness. But I always make sure I get back on track. Step by step. It can just be a simple stretching or breathing session for a matter of ten or fifteen minutes. A brisk walk. Anything. But I bounce back. And, the sooner you realise that fitness is an absolute must for you, especially if you’re a woman, no matter the age, the better for you! Its never too early and definitely, never too late. So @editfitness is where I’ve been training since the end of 2018 and I must admit I’m addicted to this place. Why? Because they have dedicated coaches who don’t simply push for countless reps but instead show you exactly how to perfect your posture and watch over closely so you never hurt yourself. The training sessions themselves are constructed in a manner that you can never find any two sessions alike, and that, truly makes every day unique, and challenging. Above all, I never thought I’d fall head over heels in love with lifting weights😂 By the way, this is no paid promotion or that sort of stuff. Caption : I remember @artdirector_umesh throwing a surprise party to @raghini.muralidharan several years ago.. and being awestruck by the grandeur of the whole idea, all for his beloved. To see that barely anything (except the grandiosity has only multiplied) has changed over the years, for the apple of his eyes, is being witness to a rare kind of love, admiration, that one doesn’t commonly see around. This evening was a celebration of the life of one person who has touched those of countless others in so many ways. And was filled with some moments I’ll cherish for a long, long time. Thank you, Umesh!!! This was truly, an evening to remember forever:)) P.S.. Srini, Sathya and Anand.. you are incredibly, unbelievably talented. Reach for the stars, guys!!!!
