The scene where Freddy’s arms elongate was achieved by having men with fishing poles on each side of the alley marionetting a set of puppet arms attached to actor Robert Englund.
Weird scary truck. Came up behind us, blasting a huge deep horn. Too scary to stop and get out. Who the hell was that?
Happy #Halloween! Tag me with your costume.

The revolving room — where Tina gets killed, and later, where the blood is coming out of Johnny Depp’s bed — that was a real puzzle to construct. They bolted two racing car seats to the wall, one for the cinematographer and one for myself, and we were in five-point harnesses. For Johnny’s scene, 300 gallons of blood had to come out of his bed. I wanted the grips to rotate the room slowly so blood would run down the walls. But the room took off in an enormous spin from the sudden shift of weight, and blood went everywhere. It hit every light and blew every fuse. They assumed I was dead by the time it was done.

Goodbye to Mike Nichols, one of the true Masters of both cinema, stage and comedy.
Saw Cabaret in #NYC with Alan Cumming, Michelle Williams and a great supporting cast. Cumming was at Genius Level from first moment to last, and Williams broke my heart into a million pieces. Go see it if you can!
