i don’t actually suck at the trumpet, it’s just broken.
I have black friends, gay friends, police friends, musician friends, guy friends, girl friends, mentally handicapped friends, sports friends, nerd friends, and different even still friends. I love them all. I don’t view anyone differently based off of any of these things. a lot of them are in this room; on our crew even. music has always been my way to cope with injustice, unfair treatment, unneeded violence and pain in the world. a way for all of these friends to bond. I’ve always turned to music when things are tough. this show in Dallas with all my friends was important for me. important to turn to with a heavy heart in light of all of the violence and injustice happening recently. friendship and love is what we need to make the world a better place. (and maybe a couple of great records with live shows to go with) Dallas, Texas

tonight is the first night of this tour, which I’ve been excited about for a long time. i am honestly terrified to be in front of you. this show is challenging in a lot of ways, but the coolest thing i have ever done, because of how important yøu are.
can’t really describe what kind of band Death Cab for Cutie has been to me in my life, and what kind of a drummer Jason McGerr has been for me to look up to. I hope to be like him as I continue playing music.
