Visaranai a VetriMaaran directorial has been selected as the India’s official entry in the Foreign Language Film category for the Oscars. The movie which is based on the book “Lock Up” by Chandrakumar already has three National Awards to its name.
The movie which was funded by Actor-Director Dhanush has already bagged the awards for “Best Feature film in Tamil”, “Best Supporting Actor (Samuthrakani), “Best Editing (Kishore)” at the National Film Awards that was held earlier this year.
Supran Sen, General Secretary of Film Federation of India told the reuters that the movie has been selected out of 29 films that were in the race for the Oscars. Visaranai was selected because it would be a movie which anyone could easily relate to wherever there is a Corrupted System.
Visaranai the movie about how innocents get trapped into the hands of those who misuse the power has been receiving accolades from various film festivals it attended. The film won the Amnesty International Italia Award at the 72nd Venice Film Festival.
