Kaatru Veliyidai directed by Mani Ratnam with Karthi and Aditi Rao Hyadri in the lead have confirmed the first weekend of April as its release date. The flick has got the music composed by Oscar award winner A.R.Rahman.
Funded by Madras Talkies and co-produced by Sri Thenandal Films, the makers have decided to release the music album of the movie by 20th of March. The makers have already released three single songs from the movie which has garnered great response among the fans.
Mani Ratnam and Rahman combo have worked wonders in the past. The promising duo have worked together for more than 20 years. After the successful OK Kanmani, Kaatru Veliyidai is Mani Ratnam’s take on a love story between a pilot and an army doctor. Mani Ratnam first collaborated with Rahman for Roja which gained Rahman his first national award and the director has never worked with any other music director since then.
Karthi plays the leading protagonist and the pilot in the Indian Army while Aditi Rao Hyadri is expected to play the leading lady as a Doctor. While Ravi Varman handles the camera, Sreekar Prasad handles the cuts in the movie from the editing desk.
The three singles Azhagiye, Vaan and Sarattu Vandiyile have become chartbusters within hours of its release. The three songs top almost every top songs list in all the radio stations of the language. They also continue to rock in the online platforms.
While Azhagiye and Vaan sound to be romantic numbers, Sarattu Vandiyile sounds more like a wedding number. The movie is simultaneously being released in Telugu as Cheliyaa.
