Udhayanidhi Stalin earlier reported that his next outing would be with National award winning director Priyadarshan. He shared the news on twitter and announced that Santhosh would be funding the project under his Moonshot Entertainment. It is learnt from the sources close to the director that the movie will actually be an official remake of the last year’s Malayalam blockbuster ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’.
Maheshinte Prathikaram had Fahadh Fazil playing the titular role Mahesh while Aparna Balamurali played the lead female role. The movie was the directorial debut of actor Dileesh Pothan and was conferred with the National Award for Best Movie in Malayalam last year.
Maheshinte Prathikaram narrates the story of a photographer who gets insulted when involved in a fight with a stranger in his village. Mahesh will set out to seek revenge against this stranger and what ensues forms the rest of the story. Filled with emotions, the movie was set against the backdrop of a village near Idukki. The movie was much appreciated by the critics and was declared a blockbuster too.
A source reveals that Priyadarshan has got plans to change the story line of the movie in order for the movie to suit the Tamil audience. The crew plans to start rolling from the month of July. While the cast of the movie is yet to be finalized, the crew has signed M.S.Bhaskar to play a crucial role in the movie. If sources close to the crew are to be believed M.S.Bhaskar might play the on-screen father of Udhayanidhi. M.S.Bhaskar was critically acclaimed for his roles in recent movies like 8 Thotakkal and Uthama Villain The source is said to be in a hunt for other supporting characters for the movie.
