Kayla Briët Instagram – i’m still processing my big ol’ heart’s gratitude for the Smithsonian Ae’ Kai culture lab✨🌺This was my first time exhibiting a personal room-scale virtual reality piece to the public. And it’s a pretty different (nervewracking!) feeling to suddenly invite someone you just met into a world you’ve been making on a laptop in your bedroom. 🔆TROVE is a time-capsule stocked with treasured objects & the stories behind them. For many people (from 5 years old to 83), it was their first time ever trying VR. It was such a learning experience seeing their emotions, reactions, and feedback hands on – I was writing down ideas for new interactions to build, and listening to stories of their own treasured objects! A few young folks were inspired to dev VR to tell stories of their own.
