Daniel Gillies Instagram – kids.

one of the startling things about the refugee settlements of Uganda is the sheer number of children.

women and children.
but mostly children.

an estimated 63% of the population.
many of whom have lost their parents.

like any kids, they’re playing and laughing and wreaking the typical mayhem. they’re also living in a situation where there simply isn’t sufficient medical care, rigorous sanitation or food — never mind education. at the end of the day people like OXFAM and UNICEF and World Vision are doing everything they can… it’s enough to offer refuge from certain indignities.
but it’s not enough to solve the deeper issue:

until the international community does something to facilitate a cease-fire in the South Sudan, these kids aren’t going anywhere.
Daniel Gillies Instagram – this kid approached us on day 4. he spoke beautiful english and actually translated something I was trying to say to a local, without any prompting… after speaking to him for a little while, he told me the chilling story of what happened to his people and his village in equatoria.

this young man had narrowly escaped death, hiding in the bushes for weeks, before walking a treacherous path to Uganda.
help me help the refugees of the south sudanese civil war.

Everything I raise will be donated to these people.
