The extraordinary journey of fakir is the upcoming Tamil movie that has Tamil actor Dhanush playing the lead role of Fakir who gets trapped in an IKEA box on his adventure around the world. Directed by Ken Scott, the movie is based on the novel, “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe” by Romain Puertolas.
The 2014 novel that deals with a magician from Mumbai who goes on an adventure in search of his father has been translated in 35 languages so far. Dhanush plays the magician Fakir in the movie alongside Bernice Bejo, Barkhad Abdi, Erin Moriarty and Abel Jafri. Shot in English the movie is currently in its postproduction phase.
The prerelease business of the movie has already started and the distribution rights of the movie are being sold worldwide. Sony Pictures has bought the rights for distributing the movie across UK and France. Apart from Uk and France, the distribution rights of the movie has been sold to countries such as Italy, Australia, Spain, Japan, Poland, Greece, Israel, Turkey, Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Falcon. The movie is produced by Paris based Brio Films and coproduced by Scope Pictures, M! Capital Ventures, Impact Films, Vamonos Films, Little Red Car Films, and Aurora Global Media Capital.
