Carly Schroeder Instagram – After loading truckloads full of donated necessities (thanks to the wonderful people of this INCREDIBLE community I am proud to be a member of) that were taken to other shelters, my team headed inside to build cots till 3 am. I got a few hours of sleep before heading back. I picked up trash. Cleaned toilets. And as ash rained down on Ventura, I read to children to help calm them. Volunteering isn’t glamorous. It isn’t meant to be. The best thing you can do is show up and say, “What can I do to help?” Today tragically a hired guard allowed the looting of our stored food, water, comfort kits and animal supplies. If you CAN help… please, please, please DO. Thank YOU again!
