Jolene Blalock Instagram – The truth is we are all faced with injustice in many forms. Often we don’t know how to cross the invisible barrier that separates the two realities of just and unjust. Driving on the highway listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd yesterday cuz that’s what you do when crossing state lines into Alabama. I’m road trip rockin and I look out my window as I pass a massive transport packed with live cows headed to slaughter. The transport reads in big letters ‘Eat Meat’ and I don’t know what to do with that. Lynyrds on, volume up, windows down. I’m sharing the same highway with these females (cows) yet we might as well be on different planets. This is commerce. This is how we live. This is how we eat. This is normal. But why do I feel so conflicted about these momma cows and these words ‘eat meat’. I was rubbing shoulders with injustice and there was nothing I could do about it. All I could say was ‘thats not right’ Sometimes all we can do is say ‘thats not right’ but let us not minimize the value of our voices and the sweet liberty to use these voices. With no judgement to those who eat beef but celebrating the sweet freedom to use my voice I shout out at the top of my lungs ‘I LOVE COWS!!!’ | Posted on 26/Apr/2018 21:40:54
