Casey Patterson Instagram – Humbled and indebted to those who have come before to make the opportunity I enjoy possible. Every woman I know does battle everyday in hopes of softening the ground for the next generation of girls, who will be seeking safe passage as they work to realize their potential and build a limitless path for themselves. They deserve a more enlightened and equal experience and to feel supported and celebrated as they do so. It won’t happen overnight because we are not a trend. Girls we see you, we know that you are ready to move progress forward as a better, faster stronger version of us. You’re prepared for what you’ll hear, we all heard it and we broke though anyway. Let detractors talk to themselves while you stay focused on achieving and being inspired. Let them use those words that are so easy to use about women and embody them in the best ways. Let them say that you are demanding when trying to stand for something. Let them say you’re tough when you have no choice. Let them say that you’re combative when you defend yourself and your point of view. Let them say that you are exacting when you are decisive. Let them say you are disruptive when you will not settle. Let them say you are difficult when you don’t agree with them. Let them say you are loud when you speak up for not being heard. Let them talk about your body, your skin color, your sexuality and anything else they need to say to detract from your actual power, because we’re a generation of women and girls who are prepared for the words and are taking them back. We’re going to stand for something anyway and be on the right side of history. Demand equal rights and equal pay. Be Tough on those who are not on your side. Be Combative when fighting the good fight and defending yourself. Be Exacting in your goals for yourself and your vision. Disrupt any system that does not support you. Be Difficult to ignore. Be Loud about your beliefs and being heard. All of the above is womanly and feminine and honorable and strong. Don’t ever let anyone make you feel otherwise. You can do all with grace, good humor and compassion. We know that you will. We love you and we got you. New York, New York
