If mental health were to be taught in schools as a subject of equal importance to maths and English – then perhaps children would have a greater sense of support and understanding of their emotional needs.
I missed a lot of school due to severe depression and anxiety, and with no emotional support at school and being made to feel excluded for my illness, it was not somewhere I felt comfortable going everyday.
