Casey Deidrick Instagram – That was an experience Iceland! I’ll never forget how alone I felt being in a cabin in the middle of nowhere with the only light coming from the stars. Hours away from civilization. You couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face it was so dark. There was no sound from cars, no animals, no crickets chirping. Just you and your thoughts. It was so quiet you could hear your heart beating. I was so out of my comfort zone. I remember panicking a few times. It made me realize how much of life revolves around intimate attachments to other human beings, which has diverted our attention from the importance of solitude and individuation. The need for relationships and solitude are two opposing drives. It made me want to work on the art of being alone and find some sort of peace there.
