Jacinda Barrett Instagram – The day started like this….smack the phone. The icy interface projects the digital score: 3:12am. I fall back somewhere not quite sleep until 4:15am buzzes like a teenage thug shouting obscenities. “Oh God,” I moan. “What am I doing with my life,” and slam fingers on phone telling it to hush. Husband rustles and turns toward heaven and I dare not look, fearful it will arouse the desire to scream “to hell with it all. Sleep only sleep.” I I look away, throw covers and push from melting heat, to icy surfaces. Floor. Toilet. Sink. I hate them. Each and every one of them. But thoughts are disavowed. No good here. I send the devious bastards away. Pajamas off. Face washed. Socks on. Pants. Shirt. Sweats. Boots. Pull drinks from fridge and zip coat in a metal yawn. The door slams, that world no longer exists.
