I found it especially frustrating to read comments from people who are carried more by their emotions than common sense. Especially politicians who think that a band aid will solve a five inch gash. People who think that the cull of innocent animals would solve anything. If you look at the history of politics, it revolves around the psychological manipulation of people who would believe in an easy fix such as a cull for sharks. Truth is, it doesnt benefit the people to be placed in a false sense of security. It only serves a long term benefit for a politician’s career and financial agendas. It’s one of the oldest stories in all of economic and political campaigns. Promises after flowery promises. People dont seem to get the dynamics and still fall for it. It was so obvious in the closing remarks of one politician who’s interest are the businesses that would be affected. No business, no payoffs, right? For them, people are collateral damage and sharks will always be an excuse to gain leverage. How about culling these people instead? You will definitely see all the arrogance, the ignorant remarks, the legal battles, all the fireworks, even armed retaliation and intervention and even more psychological manipulation just to hold on to that power. Unfortunately, our wildlife doesn’t have fat politicians resources. Nor do they have a voice to speak out. If there was a voice, it would be ours – the masses, people who have equal resources to speak out. Conservation of animals is about the welfare of people. Only selfish, land-grabbing and ocean-grabbing people who claims the ocean to be theirs, would think otherwise. The research and science behind shark conservation aims to better prevent mishaps from happening. However, the actions of these selfish people who ignore the science, people who ignore the warnings, people who think the ocean is their private playground are those who mess
