Ashwin Kakumanu Instagram – Rest in peace Peter Mayhew. Chewbacca was the loyal best friend who made sure no one messed with you and growing up I think we all wanted a friend like him. I loved the way he captured all the snarls, growls and head turns like an animal would. He made a shaggy fur suit that could have gone wrong into a character with a lot of soul. So much so that when I saw the character at disneyland last year I immediately reached out for his trademark hug and felt like a kid again.
