Amiyah Scott Instagram – Today being my 30th birthday, it felt like the perfect time to share a picture & story that I’ve wanted to for a while. It’s been almost 15 years since that first photograph was taken. I was 15 years old and had been sneaking out my parents house to go to a club called #Fusions (rip) in New Orleans. This particular night was my FIRST drag show. I borrowed one of my girlfriend’s prom dresses, a performer by the name of TMoney helped me with my makeup & loaned me a wig and I believe I performed Tamia – Stranger in my House. This was the beginning of something much bigger than I even dreamed. I had no idea then the journey I was about to embark on. I had no idea how far & wide my story would go. Shit, I had no idea what ladylike posture was apparently (lmao) but I’m sharing this to say & show that we all start somewhere. I’ve learned a lotttttt in the last 15 years and I pray to see another 15, but knowing what I know now, having somehow evolved into the mystery woman I saw every day when I looked in the mirror growing up; I say all of this to say NEVER GIVE UP. Had I listened to what ppl told me, had I believed I was “crazy”, had I not followed my heart… I wouldn’t be here today. The picture on the right is my favorite picture of myself to date. I cried when I saw it the first time because I finally looked like what I’ve felt like my whole life. My dreams came true and I just want whoever may read or may need this to know that yours can too 💪🏽❤️ Thank you for all your support and for all the birthday love. 2018 is gonna be one for the books!
