Michael Bearden Instagram – HBD🎉 to one of the two surviving Beatles. Sir Paul McCartney! Quick story on this photo: I was working on one of the many Grammys I’ve worked on. (I’m not even sure who I was performing with that particular year) Blessed! 🙌🏾 Anyway, one artist (who will remain nameless) was walking in the backstage hallway with their entourage. Their security was telling everyone to “move out of the way” this artist is walking. So many of us backstage were like whaat? Huh? Everyone back here is someone. It was so ridiculous! I left the whole situation and went out into the house. The first person I spot was Paul McCartney! No security anywhere near him. I couldn’t resist so I went over to him to introduce myself. He said nice to meet you. What are you doing right now. I was like, just waiting for our turn to camera block. He said want to sit here and wait with me? Ummm. Hell yeah! Lol 😂 So me and one of the freakin Beatles is just sitting there having a chat. For quite a while too. The stuff we talked about I’ll save for a book. Suffice to say, it was a great time. He’s the nicest dude on the planet. We took this photo before I left. I’ve seen him a few times since and he’s always the same nice dude!(So is Ringo by the way!) ![Michael Bearden Instagram – HBD🎉 to one of the classiest artists I know in this crazy business. The one and only Phylicia Rashad! She’s a longtime friend and a former Howard University alumni like myself. Quick story: (And this will be in the book in full. ☺️)
When I first moved to NYC, I struggled. As most do when they’re trying to make it! (Just NEVER stop y’all! But, that’s another story) Somehow, I finally started working and making enough money to move away from the drug infested neighborhood in Brooklyn where I was living. I moved just outside the city to Westchester county. Took almost every dime I had! Now I was really broke! 😩 And still a baby in the biz. ☺️ One day, my phone rang. I answered and the voice on the other end asked if I was Michael Bearden? I said yes it is. Who is this? She said, it’s Phylicia Rashad. I just about fell out! She got my number from a friend who had recommended me for a keyboard spot she was looking to fill. I needed a job so I said yes right away. She said, you have the same area code as me, where do you live? I told her and she said, oh really? We’re neighbors. Here’s my address, come over. So now I’m walking over to Phylicia Rashad’s house. What??? Lol. ☺️ Long story short. We became friends. I worked with her for a few years, in Vegas with her and Bill during the height of the Cosby Show days! And I even worked on the tv show. I met many people through her and was able to work my way more into the business. She is definitely a HUGE part of the reason I was able to keep rising in the industry! I am forever grateful to Phylicia. And yes. What you see is what you get with her! She’s the best!! A true Queen! 👸🏾 M~ [Also, a BIG s/o to one of my brothers. ![Michael Bearden Instagram – I started doing what I call “OG posts” on Friday’s because so many seasoned celebs are talked about after they’re gone. I wanted to acknowledge them while they’re still with us. Something I didn’t really get a chance to do while MJ was here. Today, I just want to acknowledge the great Smokey Robinson! The co- founder of Motown and the brilliant hall of fame song writer. Still relevant today. (Hear him on Anderson Paak’s new record) And, I worked with him on the very successful animated Netflix series called Motown Magic. (The first season is out now) We we’re nominated for an NAACP Image award recently. Although we didn’t win, it was amazing to be nominated just after the very first season. (And whoever says they’re cool with losing is not telling the truth! lol 🤷🏾♂️😇) Anyway, I’m really proud to be part of the series, (and I’m actually a cartoon character in the show!
