Immensely enjoyed Jannat Central at Prithvi Theatre. The play touched me at two levels, as a dancer who finds expressions through dance and as an artist who tries to understand human emotions. Dance becomes the savior in the play that depicts the hapless situation of a father who had lost his child to mental illness and her mother to an accident. What attracted me was how every possible form of dance, kathak, zumba, hip-hop, ball-room dancing and Sufi-dance of ecstasy was woven into the theme and nestled each character into its rhythmic, soothing moves. It was Dance that won in the end, as the father-daughter duo danced to possible, happier times. And indeed, it was Sandip Soparkkar at his best with his soulful moves.
