Amy Jackson Instagram – Today is #InternationalTigerDay and I’m so happy to start off with positive news. The Government of India announced a new wild tiger estimate… in 2014 they were at 2,226, this year that number has increased to 2,967. Of course, it’s wonderful that the wild tiger population is on the rise, but to think that there are less than 4000 of these majestic creatures left to roam freely in their natural habitat, is heart wrenching and genuinely disturbing. Did you know that out of the eight original subspecies of tigers, only six remain? All of these subspecies are in the endangered list. Our planet has lost 95% of the worldwide tiger population in the last 20 years due to human activities such as poaching & reduced natural habitat. Today, let us pledge to do our bit towards saving these beautiful animals.
