Chelsea Rebecca Instagram – The ongoing saga of my engagement ring, or: why I haven’t posted pictures of it yet! James proposed with my great-grandmother’s ring that I literally found in a box in my basement in Michigan a few years ago and fell in LOVE with. It’s art deco, so 1920sish, and it was in need of a TON of restoration work. We ultimately were unhappy with the current restoration and took it to another jeweler who specializes in antiques. Turns out this thing is just so damn old that aside from the badly done restoration, it wouldn’t be stable enough to last much longer anyway. This new jeweler is actually making a recreation of how the ring would have originally looked in the 1920s, so I can keep the old one for sentiment and wear an identical version that won’t crumble to bits!
