What better way to celebrate it than with our next book for SBC, The Carpet Weaver by @nematsadat! The author was the first Afghan national to come out as gay, and he’s been bravely campaigning for LGBTQ+ rights in Muslim communities worldwide. It’s his first book and we’re looking forward to reading it for SBC. Set largely in Afghanistan in the 1970s, The Carpet Weaver is a sweeping tale of a young gay man’s struggle to come of age and find love in the face of brutal persecution.
