Justin Theroux Instagram – This is Helen Keller. Pitt Bull Owner… And….You will probably not get through this post.
But i hope you do. Today is National Pit Bull Awareness day. Just a few short facts…. pit bulls have served America for over a century. Helen Keller adored them. They are remarkable service dogs. They have served admirably in WW1 and other theaters of war, Have fought and died in combat in the Civil War fighting for the North (and have monuments built to honor them). They have been spokes’people’ for major US brands, have entertained us in movies, and been the first among us to travel across our great country by car… there was a time they were basically the Labradoodle of our country. Known for being smart, loyal, obedient, protective and kind.
Yet for some reason, today we have abandoned them… they are put to death more than any other dog breed in our country.
This is devastating to me. I love ALL DOGS. But since it is Pit Bull Awareness Day, I hope to bring some awareness on their behalf… and some badly needed love to this beautiful animal. I believe we have let the Pit Bull down. A breed that is misunderstood, abused, and forced to fight by people who raise them to go against their nature. If you have a minute today… please research all the good they have done for us… if you can, please help one that is at this moment in need… if you can’t do that? Just try to change your attitude a little towards them. They have done an enormous amount for us and asked for nothing in return…. at the very least, if you see a pitbull… give them a pat on the head. And tell them they’re a good puppy. Like all dogs…. They deserve it.
