Our single biggest contribution during our tenure Executive Producing The MTV Movie Awards was the removal of gendered awards. It took two years and was a scary leap for the network to make at the time, it limits your talent pool for each award and the number of “marquee awards for ratings”. That cannot be a reason for the genre, my chosen genre for many years, to stay stuck in a dated and biased format trope. Actors are actors and the accolades are for the craft and not the gender. “Best Actress” is the equivalent of saying “you’re good for a girl but not equal to men, so we will not put you at the disadvantage of competing with them head to head” That accomplishment is a point of pride for our female owned and operated, fully independent company. 🙌🏻 #charlizetheron 🖤
