Reposting the announcement here.
We are delighted to announce that the Winsome Constance Kindness Award for 2020 has been given to Dr. S. Chinny Krishna. Previous recipients of this annual award by the Kindness Trust of Australia include Dr. Jane Goodall (UK), Sir David Attenborough (UK), Dr. Jill Robinson of Animals Asia Foundation (China), Mrs. Maneka Gandhi (India). Captain Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd (USA), Dr. Christine Townend (Australia), Prof. Reverend Dr. Andrew Linzey of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics (UK), include Mr. Damien Mander of the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (Zimbabwe)
Mr. Philip Wollen of the Kindness Trust conveying the news said: “We are delighted to advice that, in recognition of your sterling efforts to protect non-human animals, we have chosen you to receive the award for 2020”
Responding, Dr. Krishna said “To be in the same group as Dr. Jane Goodall and Sir David Attenborough is deeply humbling”. The cash component of 20,000 Australian Dollars has been given by Dr. Krishna to the Blue Cross of India which he co-founded in 1964. “The Blue Cross of India gave me a platform to be able to do my bit for the animals we all care about. While the conceiving of the Animal Birth Control programme was relatively simple, implementing it and proving the concept could not have been done without the support an organisation like the Blue Cross of India gives. It is, therefore, only right that the money goes to the organisation”. The Kindness Trust is headed by Philip Wollen and his wife Trix. They support over 550 projects in 40 countries. Philip’s talks on plant-based diets has been viewed by millions – yes, millions – around the world. He is one of the major funders of The Sea Shepherd Society with several million dollars in grants and is one of the world’s leading humanitarians | Posted on 07/Dec/2019 17:01:49
