Asma, 17, was not only the first girl to ride a bike in the camp, but has earned her black belt in taekwondo, has made an incredible short documentary, and wants to go into business management when she grows up. . Rayan, 14, is not only ferociously studying English and film, but is sitting on her student council educating other young women about the dangers of child marriage and the importance of a continued education, and wants to become a pediatrician when she grows up. . Zainab, 11, is not only one level away from her black belt, and studies film and English, but sits on her school council to raise awareness about anti-bullying, and wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up. . On top of this, these girls are kind, generous, fun, welcoming, and brimming full of hope for their futures, which they deserve to be the absolute brightest. @carecanada #carecanadaambassador . Annie Murphy Instagram – One of the many incredible programs offered at the Care center in Amman, is art therapy, which helps the kids talk about and process their trauma caused by war, displacement, and poverty. One of the methods they use is using shadows and grey-scale to represent the kids’ past, and after spending some time with the shadows, they begin to introduce colour and light to represent their present and future.

Diana, who is 12, knew I’d be coming to visit, and brought some of her artwork from home, which she very proudly showed me. After flipping through pages of anime, and hearts, and ice cream cones, I came across these two drawings that have been in my head for days.
