Despite looking like a very grumpy, slightly drunk vampire in this photo I was actually very glad to be at the Evening Standard Awards last night. It’s not every day you get to be in the same room as your heroes (Glenda bloody Jackson!!!) while wearing sparkly clothing and marvelling at how great British theatre is. Thanks to @aimeecroysdill for the lovely garb, @davidmorrisjeweller for the amazing bling and my favourite wizard with a makeup brush @emilybilverstone1 for being brilliant in all ways ❤️

There will never, ever be a voice like Jessye Norman’s. I can remember so clearly the first time I heard her singing ‘Liebestod’ – it gave me chills then and it still does. One of the first records given to me by my grandfather, a love of her passed along with it. Her voice has been a constant source of comfort and inspiration. The greatest.
