Eric Arndt Instagram – People have asked me many times “What was written on your wrist tape at Wrestlemania 33?” …. (I’ll have to get a gold pen & finish the action figure’s outfit:) “R.I.P. DAGO” was what was written on my wrist tape. It was 8 years ago today 3/27/12 when the small town I grew up in, #Waldwick lost a hero. Our hero. The loss shattered a big family & small town to its core. We were all forced to band together, we filled the street, & we saluted our hero one last time. To this day the song Amazing Grace strikes such a chord in my soul. The last time I saw Joe in person I got to tell him about my WWE TRY OUT & he was so beyond fired up for me… I never got to tell him I got signed. I packed my Nissan Maxima up & headed to Florida that June having never wrestled before in my life. The only advice I got was to “shake everyone’s hand.” And so I did. But it was going to take more than a few handshakes to get where I wanted to be and to earn anyone’s respect in a business I had no experience in. With in weeks I was told I was on the chopping block & I would be fired. At that point something came over me & thought “What would Joe do for one more breathe? To spend time? TO DO THIS?!!!” I said to myself: I’ll sleep when I die. Joe’s picture sat next to an alarm that went off at 5:00 am. A wallet size photo of Joe was taped to the only mirror in my apartment, an other above drivers side sun visor. Every time I delivered a promo in the mirror, Joe was the only other face that looked back at me. I would have never made it with out him, and for that I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice he made so people like me can LIVE THE DREAM. Everybody dies, but not everybody lives. #SemperFi 🇺🇸 Thanks Joe. | Posted on 27/Mar/2020 20:25:05
