The film is about a tribal poet, Haldhar Nag, from a remote corner of India in the state of Odisha. He writes in Kosli, a language on the verge of extinction. He has been honoured by the legendary poet and lyricist from India, Gulzar. He is from an indigenous tribe, adivasis (ancient people) who have always been seen in history as have nots, despite being the First People.
