Joey Batey Instagram – Hey gang, The Horror and the Wild is here. It’s been a bit of a mad journey. But Madeleine and I are so excited to show you the weird and wild woodland world we’ve been inhabiting for the past few months. We hope you like it. @theamazingdevil is a proudly independent band. Our work comes from our own pockets (which means I get to be a total control freak and boss people about) but it also means, in the world of streaming and all that nonsense, we rarely make any money. It’s for this reason we’re releasing it on Bandcamp for a few weeks first before Spotify and iTunes (you can catch the link in my bio). If you’ve got a few pennies spare and would like to buy it, we’d be over the moon and you can do so safe in the knowledge that any profit we make will go straight into our next project together. I would like to thank the mad widdershin that is my closest friend @madeleine_hyland for basically putting up with me for months on end. As well as @tomaddisonmusic our glorious co-producer who shines so brightly, so endlessly, words fail me. You both mean the utter world to me. And I’d like to thank you, lovely gang, for all your kindness. There’s an awful lot of you, which I found quite difficult to process at first. But every comment and drawing (and tattoo! – you mad dear hearts) has got me through the woods when days got dark. I’m so so lucky to have you my devils. It feels like I’ve got an army at my back. If anyone would like to join me, I’m off to pour myself a glass of something special, turn the lights off and sink away from the world for a bit. I might even build a den… ‘Shoulder the sky my lads. And drink your ale.’ Jx
