This has been on my mind…
*Caution: long winded
First of all Thank You to everyone who has reached out with concern and thoughtful messages, it is sincerely appreciated. GraceRose is practicing isolation, she says it’s as if the whole world has Cystic Fibrosis right now. You can’t always tell when someone has CF but they know better – when at clinic or hospitals – where they practice isolation, hand washing, sterilizing, 6ft apart rules, Dr’s in protective gear, gloves, masks etc. Constantly trying to avoid sick people and making decisions about large crowds.
COVID-19 has created heightened anxiety, especially within the communities of elderly & those with compromised immune systems or respiratory diseases. If that’s not enough, this message has been on repeat!
HERE IS MY CONCERN: These people 1. Can’t get out to purchase supplies 2. Don’t have the stamina for the long lines 3. Don’t want to put themselves at more risk in crowds 4. Get frustrated/anxious to discover there’s no more Lysol, Clorox wipes, sanitizer, paper goods etc etc and not sure when/if it will be back in stock. I’m concerned b/c these are the ones who need it the most. I’m trying to figure out a way to have some of these companies: @google @walmart @amazon @cvspharmacy @walgreens @riteaid @target @ralphsgrocery @vons @gelsonsmarkets create a login or phone call opportunity for elderly (via i.d) and chronic or respiratory illness (via medical note) to be on a list to receive notification and possibly reserve – within reason – specific items they are unable to attain. If there’s no way the company can ship them – I believe we could find some “young/healthy” volunteers in the community to drop off… of course with the proper gloves, mask, 6 ft apart guidelines.
Thoughts?! Can we put something like this in place? I know these folks are worried the most – with reason.
