This is Ernie at 17 joining the RAF…they thought he was 18… he was in a rush!
Became a rear-gunner in Halifax bombers and fought fascism throughout the entirety of WW2-then as a civilian/journalist for most of the rest of his life.
We lost him in 1984.
One of the funniest guys I’ve ever known.
