Handwoven upcycled plastic waste by artisans in Gujarat, India. Made into bags in Verona, Italy. CASC8 is working with an NGO organisation in Gujarat, India, where the concept of collecting plastic waste polluting the landscape was initiated by a group of local women who wanted to ignite a change, concerning the overwhelming amount of plastic destroying their surrounding communities. The socio-economic initiative enables the local artisans to generate their own income from their highly skilled craftsmanship and the project creates income on several different levels, while also keeping a traditional craft culture alive. After the plastic waste has been collected, it is washed, and cut into strips to be handwoven on traditional wooden looms from the weavers homes. The finished plastic sheets are then sent to Verona, Italy, where they are made into CASC8 bags. www.casc8sac.com
