❤️In motherhood, there’s a lot of moments of self-doubt and guilt, but nothing beats the moments of triumph. I had one today while reading a story to my daughter’s preschool class and she exclaimed “Today’s Martin Luther King’s birthday!” and started singing the song that Stevie Wonder wrote for his birthday. Growing up in Birmingham, an epicenter for the civil rights movement, and into a family that was active in the Zimbabwean nationalist movement, activism and speaking up for social justice were drilled into me. So happy to be passing the torch to my little one, bopping around her majority white Junior Pre Kindergarten singing Happy Birthday to Martin Luther the King ❤️🤴🏿❤️
