It’s National Adoption Weekend and our commitment is fairly strong. (/neurotic). We drove through the night and set up camp at approx 3:30am as Google said there would be a line but there was not. Climate strikes are igniting across the globe and this might be one of the most important days/weeks in our history as a species. In three days, before the UN Climate Summit in NYC and we need to So go to globalclimatestrike.net or strikewithus.org to enter your zip code and find a strike near you! Scientists have worked tirelessly but need an umbilical chord that will take these findings into the world and force politicians to pay attention and implement change: you are that chord, and we desperately need everyone to engage in PERSONAL ACTION and POLITICAL ACTIVISM if we don’t want to destroy this wild, floating miracle in the midst of space. If you can’t make it (there are many jobs which won’t allow you to do so – no shame! I don’t think I’ll be able to make it either 😫) find another way to make a difference: 1. Personal action: Take a selfie and use the hashtag #climatestrike or tag @globalclimatestrike . Go vegan for a day or buy no new things. Pick up trash. Research and share facts or ideas for a more sustainable lifestyle. Donate. 2. Political activism: Call or email your senator/political leader (it’s SO easy – google it!) and put pressure on them to stop supporting fossil fuels, switch to renewable energy and support a just transition for employees/communities etc etc. There are scripts online so spend 5 mins of your day doing it! We need to activate on this level as that is where the big change occurs – and politicians respond to pressure in numbers. Every voice counts!
