Natasha Suri Instagram – Selective outrage/Selective empathy is a new phenomenon in society. My heart goes out to the injustice metted out to anyone vulnerable in global and foreign matters/events. Let’s raise our voices for them.💓I am with you!!! I feel you!!!!..But my countrymen, feeling sympathy/empathy only for a few selective painful events happening in our motherland and condemning only selective events, baffles me. On top of it, putting no efforts in going to the root cause of the traumatic events that took place or bothering to find its data and facts from the ‘beginning’. Then having no patience or tolerance to receive data if someone is sharing it with them, citing excuses that there is no need to visit the past. Bizarre. Our roots lie in our past. We act and react a certain way because of our past experiences and foundation. Yet we must not use the past to harm or avenge someone but let’s atleast have some basic awareness of the root/past history so that we can learn from it. Really breaks my heart to witness selective moral policing in my country.💔💔 If you feel bad ONLY about current riots, but have no interest in the suffering or pain of those massacred in your own country in 1984 and 1990 killings, and even today, or migrants, or Palghar Sadhus matter, it’s being shallow on another level. Sure you may not be born then or must have been tooo young just like me, but let’s atleast verbally condemn pain-inflicting events that have happened in the past and present in a fair and just manner.
I hope we always always choose fairness and justice, in EACH matter, or rather just not engage in any matter and stay neutral. Knowledge and fairness are most ideal though. Let’s strive for these. You and I don’t have to go to the battlefield and fight a war, unlike a soldier on the warfront. Condemning a wrongful act is the least of our duties. And by this, I don’t mean write and post updates about every incident that takes place. But in a one on one discussion too, let’s have the moral responsibility of calling out what’s unfair. Let’s be brave enuf to feel the pain of every suffering, without bias. ❤️🙂
