Swara Bhaskar Instagram – Another BTS from #anaarkaliofaarah #dunaliya is a fun song that takes a dark turn and exposes the many fault lines upon which the existence of these dancing troupe girls rests. #SanjaiMishra sir is such a fine and consummate actor that I momentarily felt the vulnerability these girls must feel while we were shooting this scene. @pankajtripathi sir played Rangeela with such thoughtful precision that he is my favourite character in the film. I had a glimpse of India’s normalised ‘rape culture’ when in the scene where the VC molests Anaarkali the crowd of junior artists, all locals from the area actually clapped, whistled and laughed … spontaneously. Yes!
