Dan Deacon Instagram – I saw an old video interview of James Baldwin that really helped to amplify the clarity of the situation right now. “What is it that you wanted me to reconcile myself to. I was born here more than 60 years ago. I’m not going to live another 60 years. You always told me that it’s going to take time. It’s taken my father’s time, my mother’s time, my uncle’s time, my brothers’ and my sisters’ time, my nieces and my nephew’s time. How much time do you want for your progress?” It made me realize that for my entire life there has been moments like this where unbridled, raw injustice and blatantly cruelty from the police towards black people has taken place. When and how will it end? What can I do to help end it? These questions I need to ask daily until they are answered and their answers acted upon.
Dan Deacon Instagram – Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in to watch the live stream I did at @blogotheque ! If you missed it, it’ll be up in their stories for the next 23 hours. Both fun and emotional, I got very teary eyed setting up but very glad to have done it. I will for sure do more, next time incorporate some aspect of participation for folks at home who want to participate. Also, since these live streams are a new kind of show I want to try out songs of mine that I don’t normally play live at shows or alternate versions of some songs. If you have any requests or suggestions I would love to know what you’d like me to perform in the future. Ok, thanks again everyone! I really needed that! Baltimore, Maryland
