Many people know about Parks’ refusing to give up her seat to a white man back in the 50s, but did you also know just 9 months before Parks was arrested, Claudette Colvin, age 15 was arrested in Alabama for refusing to give up her seat to a white woman! Colvin was one of the 5 plaintiffs in the first federal court case to challenge the bus segregation, which ultimately led to the desegregation of Montgomery’s buses!
