Bianca A. Santos Instagram – There are many women, especially those of color, who are awaiting justice. Women are still fighting for full respect & autonomy over their bodies, and the last thing needed is additional judgement & criticism. These are just 4 of them:
#pınargültekin is the reason #Womensupportinggwomen is trending. Pinar Gülteken was a 27 year old Turkish woman, and university student who was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend last week. This movement is to highlight violence towards women (146 Turkish women have been the victim of femicide in 2020), and the lack of action by the Turkish government to hold the men accountable for the crimes they commit and justify by blaming the victims (sound familiar?)
#BreonnaTaylor, a nurse and friend to all, was murdered over 200 days ago, and her killers have not been arrested. Her name has stopped trending. #justiceforBreonnaTaylor
#VanessaGuillen was a U.S. army soldier harassed, abused and eventually murdered during her service. She served our country and our country ignored her cries for help. Her murderer(s) are still free. #justiceforVanessaGuillen
#ZephiTrevino was arrested at age 14 in connection with the murder of an adult man who raped her. He was murdered by her adult sex trafficker who forced her into sex acts that she agreed to out of fear for her life. She is in juvenile detention being coerced to take a plea deal. #FreeZephi #endchildtrafficking
