Francisca Alegría Instagram – Last October (2019), my beloved friend @mounia.akl was staying at my house when a revolution started in her country, Lebanon. Only a couple of days later it was Chile’s time to wake up, and our own revolution started with students in Santiago. We have been through many things together — my friend and I — but this was beyond anything we could have ever imagined; Lebanon and Chile, at the same time, raising courageously against the abusive system we have lived under.
This year, on August 4th, a horrible explosion hit the heart of Beirut, leaving people dead, injured… and deepening the wound of the Lebanese people. The consequences of this event have ignited more tension to the socio-political conflict (to say the least…) that Lebanon has endured.
I know I talk on behalf of many Chileans when I say: we stand with you, Lebanon. We understand that we need to keep being awake, and do our best to unveil abuse and injustice.
Let’s not stop showing what’s going on in the world, let’s not stop talking about what matters, until we make a real change.

En Octubre pasado (2019) una adorada amiga se estaba quedando en mi casa cuando comenzó una revolución en su país, el Líbano. Unos días después, comenzó el estallido en Chile con les estudiantes. Hemos pasado por muchas cosas juntas — mi amiga y yo — pero esto fue más allá de lo que podríamos haber imaginado; el Líbano y Chile, al mismo tiempo, levantándose con valentía contra el sistema abusivo en el que hemos vivido.
Este año, el 4 de Agosto, una horrible explosión golpeó el corazón de Beirut, dejando muertos, heridos… empeorando la herida del pueblo libanés. Las consecuencias de esta explosión han encendido aún más tensión del conflicto sociopolítico (por decir lo menos …) que ha sufrido el Líbano.
Sé que hablo en nombre de muchxs Chilenxs cuando digo: estamos con ustedes, Líbano. Sabemos que debemos mantenernos despiertxs y hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo para revelar el abuso y y la injusticia.
No dejemos de mostrar lo que está pasando en el mundo, no dejemos de compartir, no dejemos de hablar de lo que importa, hasta que hagamos un cambio real 🇱🇧 🙏🏾🇨🇱
