Jeanne Tripplehorn Instagram – This is the historic Vernon African Methodist Episcopal church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Founded in 1905, it is the last standing black-owned structure from Black Wall Street and the only edifice that remains from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Its basement was the last remaining structure standing on Greenwood Street and where the Sunday following the massacre, congregants, including those who lost their homes and belongings, came to the basement to worship.
Rev. Robert Turner, Vernon AME’s pastor is asking for the public’s help to fund much needed repairs and provide playground equipment for their community.
