Noorin Shereef Instagram – When you are a born as a girl, struggles start right from the womb. Maybe we should not forget that we learn how to overcome struggles from the day we came to a form. I too had restrictions: not going out, not speaking up, not sharpening your skills and talents, not dancing, not acting! But, I knew I was different. While my mother and sister had sacrificed their lives for their families, I created my own kingdom. I followed my dream. I’m that curly haired doctor-cum-actor who was taunted for seeing such dreams. A doctor’s profession and an actor’s profession together, may not be liked by many, but does it really matters when it’s your life, your dream and it’s YOU! And the “extra” step actually helped me achieve my dreams. After watching this short video from ICICI Lombard, I can recall my journey, my struggles and the taunts that I didn’t care of. From starting this dream journey by being a background dancer at age of 15 to winning the title of Miss Kerala, at age of 18, and stepping into film making at 20, it’s the women who inspired me. My mother who taught me the much needed positivity and patience in life, my sister who showed me bring a balance in everything and giving time to the family, and finally, Sajna Aunty, who opened doors for my dreams. Noorin won’t have become what she is without them and without being Herself. This International Women’s Day, I wish to remind everyone to dream, for themselves. I am sure everyone has a story of their own struggles and success.
