No salt should be added at the point . Pressure cook the beans for 8 whistles or as you deem fit. ๐ŸŒŸ For the Tadka in hot oil- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds 1 tablespoon methi seeds 1 tablespoon jeera seeds 10 peppercorns 5-6 pieces cloves 2 large black cardamom 3 star anise 3 one inch pieces cinnamon 2 tablespoons sesame seeds 1 tablespoon khuskhus seeds 15 curry leaves 1 teaspoon hing ๐ŸŒŸto be added after the cooked beans - 2 tsp jeera powder 2 tsp coriander powder A pinch of haldi 1 cup grated coconut 10 pieces Kokum ๐ŸŒŸto be served with the Misal/Usal - Hot mix /Namkeen Chakli Pav Boiled potatoes Chopped onions Tamarind date sweet chutney -( Recipe in my pani puri igtv) Spicy green chutney Red chilli powder Beaten curd ๐ŸŒŸ After the tadka, Be quick to add the cooked beans so the hing should not burn. To this now you add salt, jeera powder, coriander powder, a tiny bit of haldi, a cup full of grated coconut and Iโ€™ve used pink Goa kokum. ๐ŸŒŸ Leave all this to boil and simmer for a full 10-15 minutes. It brings together all the goodness of the spices and beans. ๐ŸŒŸ On the table you need a large bowl of two chopped onions, two boiled and finely diced potato, a bowl of beaten curd, some sweet tamarind chutney, some spicy chilli-coriander chutney(which we didnโ€™t have!) and any Indian namkeen. Like hot mix, chaklli, muruggu, sev...... ๐ŸŒŸ Fill the bowl halfway with this flavourful Usal, add some potatoes, onions, chutneys, dahi and load on the crunchy namkeens.
