Sameera Reddy Instagram – The first dish my future mom in law ever made for me when I went to her house 10 years ago was Pani Puri and I was like wowwwww this tattooed rock star of a lady gotta be my Sassy Saasu๐ but seriously all these years she always get it right with this simple recipe! Yes the recipe is not traditional but her style @manjrivarde ๐.

Serves 8/For the Pani –
* 1 medium bunch mint leaves
* 1 medium bunch coriander
* 1 lime
* 1 inch ginger
* 1 medium to small onion
* 1 tbsp jeera (cumin) powder
* 2 tsp salt Dhaniya ( coriander) powder
* 1 1/2 liter water
* 3 tsp rock salt
* Green Chilli 4-8 ( depending on your ๐ฅต)
๐ฅ extras
6-8 boiled potatoes
1 cup Moong soaked overnight and boiled
1 cup brown Channa soaked overnight and boiled
Chaat Masala
Whipped curd
2 packs Puris ( at least 100)

Meetha Date Tamrind Chutney –
* Dates- 15-20
* Tamarind- 100gms
* Jeera – Cumin powder- 1tsp
* Jaggery- 1 /4 cup
* Red chilli powder- 1tsp
* Salt to taste.
For the Pani-
Wash the mint and coriander well . Add the onion , ginger , green chilli , salt , mint and coriander in a mixer and make a green churney. Add this to the water , rock salt , the cumin ,coriander powder and salt to taste . You can keep some of the green chutney aside for the dahi batata puri.
Add Chaat Masala to the boiled moong ,Channa and potato(to be chopped well) . If you prefer you can also replace the Channa with white matar which is known as Ragda.

For the sweet Date Tamarind chutney-Remove any seeds from the dates and clean the tamarind .Combine both the dates and tamarind in a pan and add apprx 1 1/2 cup water and cook the mixture for 20 min on a medium gas till it comes to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 10 min. Take off the gas and cool. Blend the cooled mixture till smooth and pass through a sieve and add the Jaggery ( I used jaggery powder) , jeera powder , red chilli powder, salt and mix well. ( you can store this in a air tight box in the freezer for a few months )

Serve your Puris with the sides of Potato , Moong ,Channa ,whipped curd , sweet chutney and chaat Masala and of course the Yummy Pani ! You can also make Dahi batata Puri for the kids without the spicy Pani!๐ Enjoy!! | Posted on 08/Sep/2020 10:56:19
