Susan Heyward Instagram – On Intuition & Hope
I have a couple of cats. (Insert cat lady joke here. Whatever it is, you right.) Sometime in January, I stopped recycling the plastic kitty litter containers. “I’ll recycle it next pick up.” I had six before I knew it, and tbh, was a mystery to myself. Why couldn’t I get rid of them? I didn’t understand, but I shrugged and went with it. Artists. 🤷🏾♀️ Suddenly, it was March. And the Corona virus was everywhere and no where and I was scared. Really scared. Since November 2016, in moments of stillness, the same thought would float up. “It’s gonna get so bad.” And now, here it was. The USA was not ready for this but it was happening anyway.
And then the kitty litter containers made sense. There were few, of any, stories about the food supply chain in early April. But we can’t wait to be told the truth. We must learn how to recognize it for ourselves. So I cut the tops off the containers, got some soil and seeds and got to work. The spinach and lemon seeds didn’t take 😞 but the kale and broccoli are growing! 🌱🌱And repurposing the kitty cage will give them a fighting chance. And I’m less scared.
Anyone with advice or suggestions, leave a comment, it’s my first time growing anything at home! 🌱🌸🌻🌱👩🏾🌾 Trust your intuition, ya’ll. It’ll tell you the truth every time.
