The second most powerful manifestation of Goddess Durga is Devi Brahmacharini who prayed for over a thousand years to please Lord Shiva. Goddess Brahmacharini is Durga avatar which has power, resolve, determination and focus at the core of her existence- things which can be useful to us at any given point of time.

Day 3: Chandraghanta
Chandraghanta is the third manifestation of Durga representing peace, tranquility and prosperity in life. Her name is derived from the chandra ( half moon) in her forehead. She is all seeing and ever vigilant ready to battle evil from whatever direction.

Day 1: Shailaputhri
Navarathri begins with the night of worship and celebration in honour of Durga’s avatar Shailaputhri, whose name means ” daughter of Mountains”. Also known as Sati, Bhavani, Parvati, Hemavati. She is the daughter of Hemavana, the king of the Himalayas. Shailaputhri is considered to be the purest embodiment of Durga and the mother nature. In iconography she is holding a trident and a lotus blossom.

Pomona was the goddess of fruit trees, gardens, and orchards. Unlike many other Roman goddesses and gods, she does not have a Greek counterpart, though she is commonly associated with Demeter. She watches over and protects fruit trees and cares for their cultivation.
