Theresa May Instagram – On VE Day, we commemorate all those who fought and died for the cause of freedom during the Second World War. We reflect on the sacrifices made on the battlefield, at sea, in the air and at home – and we pay tribute to those who rebuilt our nation in the aftermath of conflict. We recognise the victory of democracy over dictatorship, of freedom over fascism, of liberty over tyranny – and celebrate the values that define our nation today #veday75
Theresa May Instagram – It was a pleasure to meet President Moon Jae-in again in Korea to discuss the shared aspirations of our two countries, including on trade, climate change and regional stability.

While in Korea I spoke at the World Knowledge Forum and visited Seoul’s impressive Covid-19 command centre. We can learn from their pioneering approach to track and trace, which has kept the virus in check throughout the pandemic.

It was also an honour to pay tribute to the 80,000 British soldiers who fought for the freedom of the Korean people, including the 1,108 who lost their lives. In this 70th anniversary year, we must ensure that this bloody conflict does not truly become a forgotten war.
