Lamar Johnson Instagram – Go time, we back in Scarborough

Lamar Johnson Instagram – It’s taken me some time to be able to sit, resonate and feel all that has been going on. The empathy, the anger, all of it is felt and time was needed to channel these emotions to be able to speak with grace and better my self-awareness. I very much feel the weight of my people, and I stand in solidarity today and forever. But I’ve felt this weight for many years, much longer than just a week ago. The countless names in history. Seen and unseen. From the ship to the boulevard — I live, every day, as a black man. There is no escaping this fact. I have never, nor will I ever, be ashamed of my blackness. My lineage and my skin give me power.
To my brothers and sisters, your ideas are golden. Your melanin is magic. And your soul is felt through eons. Let’s create ownership, collaboration/community, and truly be of service to and for one another. To uplift, encourage, and empower. Build ourselves up, to be able to build up each other and our young. I feel so much hope in my heart.
I think it’s important to also acknowledge the incredibly strong, intelligent black men and women at the forefront of this movement. And have been fighting for equality and racial injustice for countless years. Your courage will always spark a flame inside of me and I am grateful for the true work you do and have done throughout history. I will continue to do my part in telling important stories and educating myself and others of our rich history, and the plight forcefully handed down upon us. Perspective and information is everything. At this time I will not shed light, nor give power to the insidious acts of hate demonstrated time and time again by the same law enforcement governed to serve and protect. THIS MUST END.
I wish peace and love to everyone, and I hope this will bring us together in ways that are unfathomable. Let’s keep our energy up and challenge ourselves to what we are doing in real life to shift culture beyond social media. Our efforts are not, and will not be in vein 🖤
